Pin and Weld Service

Bexar Arms is proud to offer Pin and Weld services to permanently attach muzzle devices to barrels. Our AR-15 Barrel Pin and Weld Service will bring your under 16" barrel up to the 16″ minimum required length for a gun to be considered by the ATF as a rifle. This service permanently extends the measured length of your barrel and keeps you from needing to use a pistol brace or paying the tax stamp for an SBR. The most common barrel lengths sold that can be pin and welded are 13.7", 13.9", and 14.5" barrels. We use the TIG welding process which leaves a perfectly clean weld with no need for major post welding cleanup unlike MIG, Stick, or Flux Core. We use 309L Stainless Steel filler rod exclusively for a higher level of rust and corrosion resistance compared to other common filler materials like ER70S-6.

PLEASE NOTE: Once the pin and weld is complete, you will no longer be able to remove the gas block or barrel nut. Please be 100% sure that you like the handguard you will be installing because it is costly to change your mind later. We also recommend using a high quality gas block that wont leak or break, and that your barrel be dimpled if you're using a set screw style of gas block.

We have compiled a list of muzzle devices that are known to bring a 13.7" barrel to the minimum 16" length or longer. Please CLICK HERE to view the list. While this list is not comprehensive or complete, it's a good starting point for your consideration. If you have any questions about muzzle devices that will reach legal length for your barrel, please feel free to ask.

In order to pin and weld your muzzle device to your barrel, you the customer will need to supply the following items:

• Barrel
• Barrel Nut
• Gas Block (no gas tube installed)
• Muzzle Device - Uninstalled and MUST be brand new
• Shims if timing of the muzzle device is desired
• Your desired muzzle device orientation if necessary
• Right Hand, Neutral, and Left Hand timing are common orientations

Work will be rejected if the muzzle device provided is not brand new and/or if timing of the muzzle device is requested but no shims are provided.

We will NOT work on aluminum, titanium, or STRIKE INDUSTRIES brand muzzle devices under any circumstances.
