The Bexar Arms Carbine Length Buffer Tubes are made from impact extruded 7075-T6 aluminum with properly rolled threads and have a dry film lubricant applied to the inside bore. These buffer tubes are made to Mil-Spec outer dimensions and feature 5 total drain holes for improved water and air evacuation.
Inferior buffer tubes are often cheaper and are made from lower grades of aluminum such as 6061. Sometimes they're even machined from conventional extrusions rather than using the impact extrusion method, much like forging, improves the physical properties of the material by allowing the metal grains to flow and follow the shape of the impact extrusion. Compared to conventional extrusions, impact extrusions have both higher hardness and increased yield strength.
Some minor surface irregularities, which are natural byproduct of the impact extrusion process, may be visible under certain lighting conditions and are not considered blemishes.
